Hull City * 1 - 1 Newcastle United : Jakupovic Gives Hull First EFL Semi


Hull City successfuly stopped Newcastle from making their first semi finals of the EFL in 40 years KCOM Stadium, while they were out for their first ever EFL semi finals. Both sides failed to make a goal in the first 90 minutes of the game and were only proud of just two shots on target.

Rafael Benitez side had their time in the first 45 minutes of the game, dominating the match like a premier League side would do while Hull City struggled to even get their bearing, just lucky they finished draw by half time.

The second half Hull City looked a bit serious like they now really wanted the to move ahead in the competition as compared to their game in the first 45 minutes, they played shots but no clear cut chances were created. The game later looked dull but came back to life when Dieumerci Mbokani was sent off in the 89th minute.

Mohamed Diame sent Newcastle United ahead in the 89th minute just giving them few seconds of celebration, Robert Snodgrass leveled the game which were the only goals this game could afford in 120 minutes.

Hull City qualified for their first semi finals Scoring three of their penalty shots whole their visitors Scored just two courtesy of Jakupovic the Hull City keeper who saved two penalty shots from Jonjo Shelvey and Gouffran ensuring his team made it to the semi finals.

The Newcastle United Boss Rafael Benitez said in his post match Interview "The way that we played we deserved to score goals in the first half and in extra time. Then when we did score the goal we didn't manage the situation.
"It's something you learn with experience. Maybe we will do a little better the next time we have this many chances."

Hull City boss Mike Phelan: "This is the furthest the club has ever been and the players are really pleased.
"For this football club, it's a tremendous achievement. Hopefully we can go one step further now."
