Liverpool 0-1 Southampton EFL Semi Finals Second Leg

The Reds are now out of the EFL CUP, pushed out by the St Mary's with a 2-0 aggregate, Claude Puel will now prepare his men for Manchester United in the final.

Liverpool were down with a goal on aggregate before going into this game, but their efforts to level the game were all to no avail as Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho, the Liverpool assassin's all fired blank.

Southampton made a good show of defensive display to keep Liverpool's at bay, and to crown it all up, the dramatic winner of Shane Long in the ending minutes of the game. Daniel Sturridge had the best chance for Liverpool at the hour mark but wasted it.

Southampton also had clear cut chances blown away by either inexperience or lack of accuracy in putting the ball behind the net. Nathan Redmond and Dusan Tadic failing to add to their previous aggregate but thanks to Long struck whose effort gave them a two way win over Liverpool.
