Mikey Garcia showed class as he defeated Adrien Broner in their super-lightweight showdown at the Barclays Center.

Mikey Garcia was all out from onset taking the fight to his opponent, dictated the fight and with bold supremacy defeated Adrien Broner to increase his unbeaten run to 37-0. The Judges scored the fight 117-111, 116 - 112 and 116-112, as Broner fell to the third defeat of his career.

Both fighters got into the fight slowly and Garcia was the first to get his feet notably in the second round, establishing control of the fight, working behind a stiff jab to outland Broner, closing the distance, landing a heavy right hook to the body.

Garcia was more patient in his proceedings, timing his opponent, before going close and landing a left hand flush, a punch that was quickly shrugged off by Broner, who could not get any control in the fight or even failing to land any significant power punches.

Broner had some good times in the fifth round but Garcia's 30 second rain of punches left Garcia still leading and in the eight round Broner became less defensive and less energetic, attracting boos echoed around the arena.

Broner got a bit of his game back in the ninth round, releasing his hands, he landed a telling left hook, but Garcia remained resolute. The Problem became very good in the final rounds but failed to shake the enduring Garcia, who held on to a decision win.

"That was one of my best performances, I controlled things form early on. Garcia said
"Broner is a tough, great fighter, I was just the better fighter tonight.

"I have very good timing, it is underestimated, when you get in with me you find out my timing is a step ahead.

"We are ready for anybody next, we want to look at the options. I can go down to lightweight for a big fight, or stay at super-lightweight or even move up to welter."
