Portuguese and Real Madrid Star Christiano Ronaldo is due to appear in court today over his task evasion case which is said to be worth millions in tax.

Christiano Ronaldo, who is the world's highest paid athlete is said to has evaded tax worth over €14.7m ($17.3m; £13.1m) which has been accumulated since 2010.

The football world has been hit by many tax evasion accusations by investigators and the latest of them is the four time Ballon D'Or winner, who initially denied all the allegations.

Before now, Lionel Messi was the one on the ropes, handed 21 month prison sentence which was later ruled he could pay €252,000 in place of jail time. However, Messi's tax evasion case was €10.6m less than Ronaldo and this evidence will be presebted at a court in the Madrid suburb of Pozuelo de Alarcon on Monday.

Gestha union of experts at Spain's Inland Revenue said that if the case is sent to trial and he is found guilty, the Portuguese forward could face a fine of "at least €28m" and a prison sentence of three-and-a-half years.

According to prosecutors, Ronaldo allegedly took "advantage of a company structure created in 2010 to hide income generated in Spain from his image rights from tax authorities" which was a "voluntary and conscious breach of his fiscal obligations in Spain"
